T2 Trainspotting's title leaves little to the imagination, let's be honest.

However, it turns out one of the reasons it was chosen was to "piss off" James Cameron, whose second Terminator film was also titled T2.

"Danny [Boyle] always thought of it as T2," Ewan McGregor (Renton) told Yahoo! Movies.

"He thought it was the kind of title that these characters would pick, you know? Because it's a bit like Terminator 2 or something and it would piss off James Cameron."

Yet Robert Carlyle (Begbie) explained of the choice: "It arrived at this title quite far down the line."

Ewen Bremner (Spud) added: "Originally, when we read the script, it had a different title. It had quite a difficult title."

However, Carlyle added: "[T2 Trainspotting] was the least unfamiliar [title]. Which at first, I didn't understand at all. But the more we went through it, I got it.

"You end up [with], these people, they hate each other, they've got nothing in common, they've been trying to get away from each other, but in the end they are the least unfamiliar to each other, and that's where you'll always end up."

Meanwhile, Carlyle teased this week that we may get more Trainspotting films in the future, hinting that "maybe we ain't seen the end of Begbie just yet".

T2 Trainspotting is in UK cinemas from today.
