Taco Bell in Tonbridge and Folkestone close in the same week
Two Kent Taco Bell stores have closed their doors within the same week - just two years after they first opened. Both the Tonbridge branch, found on the High Street, and the Folkestone restaurant in West Terrace have now shut for good.
The Mexican-inspired restaurant chain arrived in Folkestone in November 2022, taking over what used to be the old Argos store in the town centre. Then in December the same year, the fast food chain moved into the former McDonald’s on Tonbridge High Street.
But on Sunday (January 19), news began to circulate on social media that the Tonbridge branch had closed permanently. A notice had been displayed in the restaurant’s window simply stating “store closed permanently”.

Confirmation of this closure has since been posted to the branch's Google listing. Meanwhile, the restaurant in Folkestone has also closed this week.
Both of these stores are now no longer listed on Taco Bell’s UK locations website page and they have ceased trading on delivery apps such as Just Eat. It is not yet known exactly why the two restaurants have closed and KentLive has approached Taco Bell for comment.
In August last year, the Taco Bell restaurant in Tunbridge Wells shut less than one year after it had arrived in the town centre. One month prior, the chain’s store in Dartford also shut, with these two closures a result of T Bello, the company which managed a portfolio of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut franchises, collapsing into administration.
Taco Bell now runs five sites across Kent found in Broadstairs, Canterbury, Chatham, Dover and Maidstone. The chain serves up a variety of Mexican-inspired classics, including burritos, nachos and quesadillas.
