Tagg Romney Says Sorry For Obama Remarks

Mitt Romney’s eldest son has apologised in person to Barack Obama for saying he wanted to "take a swing at him" during the second presidential debate.

Tagg Romney took the opportunity after Monday's third bout in Florida to say sorry to the president for the remark.

He walked up on stage with other Romney family members, where cameras showed him shaking hands and exchanging words with Mr Obama.

The president quickly accepted the apology, according to an ABC News source.

The TV station also reports a source close to the Romney campaign as saying another of the Republican candidate's five sons, Josh, told the president he has nothing to worry about ... if his own experience of his older brother's punches are anything to go by.

Tagg Romney had been asked during a radio interview following last Tuesday night's event at Hofstra University in New York what he thought of Mr Obama calling his dad a liar.

He replied that it made him want to "jump out of his seat and ... rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him."

"But you know you can't do that," he quickly added. "Because, well first because there's a lot of Secret Service between you and him, but also because this is the nature of the process, they're going to do everything they can do to try to make my dad into someone he's not."

"We signed up for it. We've gotta kinda sit there and take our punches and then send them right back the other way."

The comments surprised some election watchers and were mocked in the TV programme Saturday Night Live.
