Based on the internationally best-selling children’s book series by Daniel Handler, the show follows orphans Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire (played by Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes and Presley Smith) as they’re left in the custody of a mysterious, distant relative named Count Olaf (wickedly played by Neil Patrick Harris). After his intentions to steal the kids’ inheritance is foiled, Olaf employs various ridiculous disguises to wriggle himself back into their lives, causing mayhem for the Baudelaires and their subsequent guardians.
Ever since Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka welcomed their twins, Gideon and Harper, back in 2010, they have proved time and time again what incredible parents they are. The Harris-Burtka family really come into their own on Halloween, with the clan making it a tradition to post the most adorable and lovable family Halloween portraits every year, so much so that we have actually found ourselves getting excited about what they will be dressing as each year. In short, the famous family’s Halloween costumes have become as much of an October 31st tradition as eating too many toffee apples and watching Hocus Pocus.
Over its nine season run, How I Met Your Mother gave us some pretty epic laughs and heartbreaks. From ‘the pineapple incident’ to Ted being dumped by Stella and Lily breaking up with Marshall, the show revelled in iconic moments that will always stick with fans. Yes, Neil Patrick Harris, his husband, David Burtka, and twins, Gideon and Harper, have done it again and trumped every other famous fam in the ‘adorable stakes’ this Thanksgiving, with the couple giving a candid insight into their holiday celebration. Kicking off the day before Thanksgiving, David took to his food-orientated Instagram account to reveal that each of the twins had chosen their own dessert for the big day, with the actor sharing a photo of five-year-old Gideon getting stuck in in the kitchen, writing: “Getting a head start on the holiday cooking. David also shared a family portrait of himself, Neil, and the twins eyeing up the table full of food, captioning the candid snap: “The best part!!” and from the look of the table, we’d definitely have to agree.

It’s no secret that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are one of our all time favourite celebrity couples, in fact, if there was one famous duo that we could shield from the curse of 2015 break-ups then we reckon they would probably be our first choice to protect. Anyways, adding to the already seriously-adorable family goals that these two give us, Neil took to his Instagram page last night to share a photo of his and David’s twins, Gideon and Harper, celebrating their fifth birthday. The kids look absolutely ecstatic as they stand in front of their rather impressive birthday cake, with it being revealed that Neil and David actually made the cake themselves.
