The English author, who grew up in Berkshire, wrote 150 books in total, with an additional 25 books about Paddington, who then came to life in a well-loved television series. A train driver’s fast for Ramadan may have been a factor in him derailing a train outside Paddington station, an investigation has found. Experts from the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said they were unable to determine whether fasting for Ramadan definitely was a factor in the crash, but research has shown that fasting can affect concentration levels. The derailment of the Great Western Railway (GWR) train, which took place just after 6pm on June 16, happened after the driver passed a red signal and hit an overhead mast.
Fed-up commuters faced further disruption at London’s busy Paddington railway station on Friday morning following a train derailment. The train came off the tracks after it ran a red signal on Thursday, seriously affecting passenger services. No trains ran into or out of Paddington station on Thursday evening and just half are expected to run on Friday, with services already affected.
