Take That to be joined by Robbie Williams for one-off virtual reunion

Robbie Williams will rejoin Take That for a special one-off virtual performance.

Williams will rejoin Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald from their homes to entertain fans during lockdown and raise money for charity.

The gig will be part of the first Meerkat Music event on the Compare the Meerkat YouTube channel in conjunction with Facebook Live.

Funds raised will go to music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and concert crew workers relief fund Crew Nation.

In a group statement on the reunion, which will take place from 8pm on Friday 28 May, the band say it is “always great getting back together with Robbie”.

The statement reads: "This is a world first for us. Reuniting with our old friend online for a one-off performance!

"It's always great getting back together with Robbie and we are really excited to be part of this unique show that everyone can enjoy from home.

"We are also delighted to be supporting Nordoff Robbins and Crew Nation around this show, two charities very close to our hearts."

Williams added: "I am really looking forward to performing with the boys again – it's always a pleasure. Nordoff Robbins and Crew Nation are both such brilliant charities and I'm thrilled to be supporting them around this show.

"If we can't go to the stadium…we'll bring the stadium to us."

Williams initially left Take That in 1995 and embarked on a hugely successful solo career.

The band split the following year before reuniting ten years later.

Williams and Take That members, particularly Barlow seemed to have a strained relationship but they appeared to bury the hatched when the Angels singer rejoined the group for an album and tour in 2010.

With Williams only a temporary member, the group reverted back to a four piece before later becoming a trio when Jason Orange left in 2014.

It is thought the latest reunion will not feature Orange.
