Take That thrill fans as they tease first new album in five years

Take That have thrilled fans by teasing their first new album in five years.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald have not released an album since Wonderland, which was unveiled in 2017.

But it seems another is on the way.

Spilling the beans on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Barlow said the trio have started on their new material.

"We have started a little bit of writing, but we’re not due to officially start until the New Year," said the star.

"Hopefully (there will be an album released) next year, but we’ve got to write some hits."

The news comes days after it was announced that Take That would headline British Summer Time (BST) in Hyde Park in July, in what will be their only UK show next year.

They join the likes of Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on the bill.

The band said of the show: "We’re so excited to be back together and that BST Hyde Park will be the first stage we perform on in almost four years.

“We have incredible memories of playing there in 2016, and we can’t wait to see everyone in July.”

They also tweeted that it would be their "only UK show next year".

Fans of the band were delighted to hear new music is on the way.

One tweeted that they were "feeling goooood" after Barlow's comments, while another said it was "so exciting".

"We hope for many more years yet boys, we will never tire of your music," said someone else.

Take That got together in 1990 and, along with past members Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, found fame with songs like Could It Be Magic and Relight My Fire.
