A North East takeaway has found itself in hot water after making a jibe about Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and their ‘queue row’ – with people branding the ‘joke’ “tasteless”.

For the last seven days, Phil and Holly have been on the receiving end of criticism after it appeared they ‘jumped’ the queue to see the Queen lying in state at Westminster Hall.

Despite statements from the pair claiming that they gained access to the Hall for filming, many people have slammed the TV personalities online – with over 55,000 people signing a petition to axe Phil and Holly from TV.

On Friday (September 23), Stockton-based Moja Indian takeaway took to their social media account to aim a joke at the This Morning presenters – by photoshopping Phil and Holly on to the background of the shop – with the caption “Apologies to everyone who is waiting on their order – we’ve just had Phil and Holly come in and order a meal #VIPTreatment.”

In the now deleted post, the restaurant added: “Ps. Some may say this is photoshopped.”

While the restaurant thought that the joke would go down well with many, a lot of people were quick to attack the ‘tasteless’ joke – and pointed out that the jokes about Phil and Holly “weren’t funny anymore”.

Commenting on their initial post, one social media user said: “It's all getting very boring and irrelevant now, while another added: “What happened to being kind? Give it a rest.”
