New, genre-bending Xbox, PS4, PS5 and Windows co-op game It Takes Two is out today (26 March), and boy, is it a wild – and unusual – ride.
Following the story of a human couple transported into doll bodies by a magical spell, It Takes Two sees the pair tasked with repairing their fractured relationship within the confines of their new, alternative reality on life, shepherded by a love guru named Dr. Hakim.
A huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges stand between them and their return to normal.
It Takes Two embarks on a fun journey built purely for two in couch co-op or online through your Friend’s Pass.
The game gives you the chance to master unique and connected character abilities with every new level and work together to get back to your own bodies. Essentially, It Takes Two is all about discovering a metaphorical merging of gameplay and narrative in a light-hearted story about the hardships of getting along.
With the Friend’s Pass, you can invite a friend to join you online co-op for free to experience the adventure, which has been built purely for two. You can choose between the couch or online co-op with split-screen play, and the ever-changing challenges will see you and your friend work together to complete the missions.
Getting a game pass is pretty simple. Whether your platform is PlayStation, Xbox, Origin, or Steam, you and your friends can play for free. Similar to the free time trial offered with A Way Out, the Friend’s Pass offer cross-gen – but not cross-platform – play.
For example, Player 1 can be playing on PlayStation 5 and invite Player 2 on Playstation 4. But Player 1 playing on Playstation 5 cannot invite Player 2 on Xbox Series X or PC. The save system also works cross-gen.
While the Friend’s Pass is available on all platforms with both players needing first-party accounts, you don’t need any internet connection to play together in the same house in couch co-op.
