Today’s Talking Point: Is the European Super League a good idea?

The football world has been awash with controversy today after new plans emerged for a breakaway European Super League.

The six clubs involved - Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur - have all been accused of “betrayal” and “greed,” with Boris Johnson hinting at measures that would force them to pay greater heed to their fans.

“These clubs are not just great global brands,” Johnson explained to reporters. “They’re also clubs that have originated historically from their towns, from their cities, from their local communities. They should have a link with those fans, and with the fan base in their community.”

“We are going to look at everything that we can do with the football authorities to make sure that this doesn’t go ahead in the way that it’s currently being proposed.”

But what are your thoughts on the European Super League? Let us know in the comments for your chance to be featured in tomorrow’s Talking Point article.
