Jeffrey Tambor is answering fresh accusations of historic sexual misconduct.

The Emmy-winning actor publicly resigned from his groundbreaking Amazon Prime series Transparent over the weekend, after denying harassment allegations from a former assistant and co-star Trace Lysette.

Now, Hollywood makeup artist Tamara Delbridge has come forward to accuse Tambor of harassing her when they worked on the 2001 comedy Never Again.

In an interview with Refinery 29, Delbridge says that she never spoke to Tambor throughout their entire time working together until they crossed paths on the final day of filming.

"I said [to him], 'It was very nice to work with you' and he grabbed me out of nowhere and kissed me on the lips," she recalled.

"And I was just shocked. I didn't even know how to react, because how do you react when you're not expecting anything like that? So I didn't know if I was embarrassed or shocked or mortified or stunned."

Delbridge also alleged that the incident was witnessed by at least one other member of the cast of Never Again.

Tambor responded to the publications of Tamara Delbridge's accusations by apologising for any "discomfort or offence" he may have caused, but stressed he did not remember the incident.

"I have absolutely no recollection of anything like this incident ever happening," the actor said in a statement. "If it did, it wasn't meant as anything more than an enthusiastic farewell and gratitude for a job well done at the end of a shoot.

"However, I am deeply sorry for any discomfort or offence I may have inadvertently caused her."

When the second round of allegations were levelled against Tambor last week, the veteran sitcom star announced that he would leave his role as Maura Pfefferman, a trans woman and retired college professor, on Amazon's Transparent.

"Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life," he said. "What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago.

"I've already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicised atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don't see how I can return to Transparent."

Transparent writers are apparently considering ways to continue the show without Tambor, including killing off his character.
