The 39-year-old actress has revealed she was injured on the set when her character was happily playing on the children’s inflatable only for her evil mother-in-law Claudette Hubbard (Ellen Thomas) to burst it with a cake cutter.

She told Radio Times.com: “Listen – I got a knee injury doing that! But it was for my art! I did it in one take.”

But Tameka saw the funny side of the scene, in which Kim was making a show of herself, as per usual, at her daughter Pear’s first birthday.

Tameka added: “I loved that scene because it’s a little bit like what I’m really like – when it comes to birthdays, you’ve got to make a big deal out of them.”

The star admits she can relate to her character in some ways because she has a young daughter of her own, two-year-old Nylah, but admits she is often “on the floor with tiredness” when she is shooting scenes and tries not to let it show.

She added: “I do treat her like one of my own – even though I tell her that there’s no crying on my watch. She can cry with other people but not with me! Seriously, though, she’s a very good little girl.

"As for having a break, before I had a daughter of my own, I used to say to Diane Parish [Denise Fox], ‘How can you do this job when you’ve got children?’ And she’d reply that she came to work for a rest. I used to say, ‘What kind of a mother are you? How dare you say that?’

"Now I know what she means … sometimes, I’m on the floor with tiredness, but I don’t let the audience see it. I keep up appearances.”
