Tamzin Outhwaite has revealed that she found filming intimate scenes for her new TV show The Wives "liberating", despite it being a while since she last filmed such scenes. The actress stars in The Wives alongside Jo Joyner and Angela Griffin, with the first episode airing on Monday, 16 September.

In the show, Tamzin, 53, portrays Sylvie, a newly-divorced woman who is relishing her freedom and dating younger men. The former EastEnders star, known for her role as Mel Owen in the BBC soap, shared her experience of working with an intimacy coordinator to film certain parts of the series, and why she enjoyed playing Sylvie.

In an interview with The Sun's TV Mag, Tamzin said: "Well, it's been a long time since I've had to do anything like that. People don't ask women in their 40s and 50s to do that very often. And to be honest, it was quite liberating, because obviously the whole point is that she's meant to be free."

The actress mentioned that she's "not prudish" and found portraying Sylvie "really lovely". She also shared that she'd never "experienced" working with an intimacy coordinator before, admitting she found it "quite strange".

"You know, someone saying: 'Is it okay Tamzin if he touches you there? ' and I'd be like: 'Yeah, just get on with it, let's take our clothes off and do it' because you want it to be authentic," Tamzin added. "You don't want it to look robotic and choreographed.

The Wives follows the lives of three women, Sylvie, Natasha, and Beth, all connected to the Morgan family through marriage, as they navigate their individual struggles. The story takes place in Malta, where the trio uncovers shocking family secrets in the aftermath of Annabelle's passing", reports the Mirror.

The series boasts a talented cast, including Angela Griffin, Jo Joyner, Jamie Bamber, and Christine Bottomley. The show's synopsis teases: "Sylvie Morgan was happily married, Natasha Morgan was swimming in wealth, and Beth Morgan and Annabelle Morgan were thick as thieves. "But this year, as they come together again, everything is different. Sylvie's now single and loving life, Natasha's hiding a desperate financial situation, Beth is barely keeping her life together and Annabelle is, well... dead."
