Tamzin Outhwaite says she’s “in a really lovely place” with her partner who is 20 years her junior.
The former EastEnders star, 50, has been dating Mr Child, 30, for more than three years and claims she will not let their age gap get in the way of him “living his life”.
“Right now we’re in a really lovely place and I have a very full life. Tom is my partner and my lover,” she told the Sun.
“I’m not going to stop him living his life at this age. I’m very aware of that and I’m not being frivolous with my affections. I’m being a realist.”
She added that at some point, she had to get over the hurdle of worrying about age, saying that it never really comes up unless she is asked about it on a podcast or by a journalist.
Ms Outhwaite, who as two daughters with former husband Tom Ellis, said she’s in a place where she is no longer over-planning different aspects of her life and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of having another child with her current beau.
The actress met the documentary maker during a yoga class in 2017 and the pair went public with their relationship the following year.
She also revealed that they were originally supposed to embark on “a little fling” when they first met, but the relationship progressed into something more serious.
Speaking to Jenny Powell and Kelly Pegg on The Hot Mess Mum Club podcast in January, Ms Outhwaite said Mr Child helps her raise her daughters adding that her children “adore” him.
“It takes a really special human to come in as a younger stepdad with two young girls,” she said.
“To be able to sort of politely back me up with them and stay stuff like, "You can’t speak to your mum like that" and sometimes he wants to get more involved and sometimes the girls would just want to be with him.
“When we are just as we are, we have a wonderful time, and make each other laugh and sing and laugh together, it’s the closest thing to organised chaos”.
Ms Outhwaite began her acting career in the early 90s with parts on The Bill and Men Behaving Badly.
She is best known for playing Melanie Healy on EastEnders from 1998-2002, where she won sexiest female at the British Soap Awards three times.
Her most recent project is a YouTube series with Mr Child is called Dun Breedin’ and is about women going through menopause.
