Taskmaster season 18 spoilers follow.

Taskmaster viewers were confused by one star's fashion choices in the show's latest episode.

On tonight's (September 26) Taskmaster, Andy Zaltzman was dressed in a velvety wizard's cloak, much to Greg Davies' puzzlement.

The Taskmaster himself couldn't figure out why Andy opted for a magical attire as he said: "Sure, he's dressed as a wizard for no reason".

Meanwhile, fans professed they were "obsessed" with the ensemble on social media, with some comparing the look to that of a mage straight from Dungeon & Dragons.

"Why is Andy dressed like a mage from dungeons and dragons," one person noted on Twitter/X, while another wrote: “Dunno what Andy's outfit is but im obsessed".

Someone else picked up on a vague resemblance between Andy's outfit and that of the leader of the Stonecutters, the Freemasons parody from The Simpsons.

Contrary to what some fans were expecting, Andy's outfit had nothing to do with any of the tasks.

The episode saw him and his co-stars Rosie Jones, Emma Sidi, Babatunde Aléshé and Jack Dee having to come up with the most "soulful" object for the prize task, as well as finding a tiny rocket hidden in a room packed with knickknacks for the first challenge.

Both Greg and Alex Horne were impressed with the comedians recreating five different 3D paintings for task number two, with the Taskmaster awarding five points to each of them.

Later on, Alex turned into a pub quizmaster for the group task. The two teams were asked to cheat at least five times using different methods, including copying each other's answers and even calling Sue Perkins for help.

Finally, the comedians were paired with five strangers for the studio task. Under the amused watch of Greg and Alex, they were asked to identify the five men's names by completing a series of homophone actions — rustle Russell, fill Phil, mark Mark, rob Rob and pat Pat.

It seems like the wizard costume doubled as a lucky charm for Andy, who ended up winning the studio task and the episode, going home with a bizarre selection of prize task items.

Taskmaster season 18 airs Thursdays and streams on Channel 4. A Junior Taskmaster spinoff has been confirmed.
