Taskmaster is set to crown its next winner with a finale that will apparently see the stars serenading a dog.

The 15th series of the comedy panel game show – which is presented by Alex Horne and Greg Davies and sees contestants taking on a variety of challenges with hilarious results - draws to a close on Channel 4 tonight (1 June).

However, while fans are excited to see who triumphs, many have admitted they just “don’t want it to end”.

Who is currently leading?

Going into the final, Mae Martin – who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns - is at the top of the leaderboard with 156 points.

However, actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe is hot on their heels with 149 and comic Frankie Boyle is also in the running with a respectable 140.

Jenny Éclair is a bit behind on 134 with comedian and writer Ivo Graham currently in last place with 119 points.

What can we expect?

The grand final looks set to be a cracker, with singing to a dog and an intense game of chess apparently on the cards.

Éclair and co will also be tasked with trying to fill a pint glass from as far away as possible in their bid to win the series and Davies's golden head.

What have fans said about the final?

Viewers seem to be less concerned with who wins than they are about the series wrapping up.

“Not happy about #Taskmaster ending, at all,” one tweeted, while another admitted it was their “comfort show”.

“This series of #Taskmaster has been fantastic,” somebody else posted.

“I adore this group so much & really don't want it to end. One of the best things about watching TM is that there are always contestants that you know before & some you don't. S15 has introduced me to Mae & Ivo.

"Mae for the win!”

“Very much torn between wanting @TheMaeMartin to win because they're an outstanding #Taskmaster contestant & wanting @kfRedhot to win because I seem to have developed a Taskmaster related crush,” said somebody else.

Taskmaster is on Channel 4 at 9pm on 1 June.
