Taskmaster and Sanditon stars join The Larkins as series 2 confirmed

The Larkins is set to return for a second season with stars from the likes of Taskmaster and Sanditon joining the cast of the heart-warming series.

Doctor Who and The Chase's Bradley Walsh and BAFTA award winner Joanna Scanlan will return as the iconic and much-loved Pop and Ma Larkin, and Joelle Rae will be replacing Sabrina Bartlett in the role of Mariette Charlton.

The ITV series, which is an adaptation of The Darling Buds of May, will see a brand-new family, the Jerebohms, arrive in the village, who are soon at war with the Larkins.

The new episodes will see several new cast members join the show, including Taskmaster's Morgana Robinson who will be playing Pinkie, the mother of the new family.

Also joining the cast will be Four Weddings and a Funeral's Hector Bateman-Harden who will be playing her son Gilbert and Lucy Allix playing her daughter Blanche.

Another new arrival in the village will be the handsome Reverend Candy, played by Sanditon's Maxim Ays, who immediately sets hearts aflutter, including Primrose Larkin's. Will the new characters find love with each other?

Also returning for the new series are Tok Stephen as Cedric 'Charley' Charlton, Peter Davison (the Vicar), Kriss Dosanjh (Brigadier), Amelia Bullmore (Miss Edith Pilchester) and Seeta Indrani (Miss Chand).

Robert Bathurst (Johnny Delamere) will be returning, as well as Francesca Wilson Waterworth (Libby Fothergill), Barney Walsh (PC Harness), Tony Gardner (Alec Norman), and Selina Griffiths (Norma Norman).

Completing the Larkin family will be Liam Middleton (Montgomery Larkin), Lola Shepelev (Victoria Larkin), Summer Miller (Zinnia Larkin) and Sienna Miller (Petunia Larkin).

The new six-episode series will be directed by The Nest's Andy De Emmony and filming will kick off in the summer.

The Larkins airs on ITV.
