Taskmaster season 15 premiere spoilers follow.

Taskmaster has returned to grace our screens with a new line-up of comedians in with a chance to win the coveted gilded sculpture of Greg Davies's head.

Greg and his trusted sidekick Alex Horne welcomed this year's quintet — Frankie Boyle, Ivo Graham, Jenny Eclair, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Mae Martin — to the studio for a hilarious season premiere.

The prize task called for contestants to find the most dependable item weighing 1kg or less. Almost all answers revolved around breakfast, with Mae stealing the show with their 1kg worth of full English breakfast, a dream fry-up that spoke to Greg's heart and got them five points.

After the first task saw the comedians share the most awkward wedding dances with Alex, the second challenge required them to channel their inner felines.

Provided with a ball of string, they had one minute to unwind it. However, the back of the envelope included some additional information that Alex hadn't shared with the taskers: after unravelling it, they were supposed to place a neat ball of string on a cushion in front of them.

Unfortunately, Frankie never completed the task as he failed to turn the envelope around. Panic ensued for those who did read the entire description, with Jenny and Mae managing to complete the task thanks to two different but equally brilliant moves.

The former Loose Women star tore some string to create a smaller ball, while the Feel Good protagonist searched a nearby drawer where they found some brand-new string. The instructions didn't specify it had to be the same ball of string, after all, and Alex had to stop the clock.

For the first location task of the show, the comedians were entrusted with a 'unicorn barge' to drive along the canal. The boat had a bargepole attached to the front and pointing forward, ready to catch swim rings hanging from nearby trees. Despite managing to break the barge somehow, Ivo was able to collect all five rings, as was Mae.

Following a final challenge where the contestants had to throw random items into very unstable buckets, Mae ultimately won with 19 points and got to snack on their full English on stage.

Taskmaster airs on Thursdays at 9pm on Channel 4.
