'Taxi' flips on its roof outside Aldi as police swarm road

Police swarmed a main road this afternoon after a crash resulted in a car flipping over outside Aldi. At around 2.30pm today (Monday November 25), a Renault Clio and Skoda Octavia crashed on Laird Street, Birkenhead.

Merseyside Police said one of the drivers sustained a slight injury and both vehicles were recovered. Laird Street was blocked in both directions but has since reopened.

An eyewitness told the ECHO the crash involved a taxi which had flipped upside down and "police were everywhere".

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were called to Laird Street at around 2.30pm to reports of a collision involving a Renault Clio and a Skoda Octavia. One of the drivers sustained a slight injury. Both vehicles were recovered."
