Taylor Swift credits Right Said Fred on new single - but fans are convinced she sounds like Gwen Stefani and Lorde

Taylor Swift may have taken inspiration from an unlikely source for her new single, Look What You Made Me Do, but fans are convinced she sounds like other artists.

After dropping her first track from her new album, Reputation, fans noticed the strong similarity between her chorus and British pop trio Right Said Fred’s 90’s hit I’m Too Sexy.

But while Taylor officially credited the trio, saying she ‘interpolated a melody’ from their number two hit, fans believe she missed off a couple of artists, claiming her song sounds like it’s borrowed from Gwen Stefani and Lorde.

Perhaps it has something to do with producer Jack Antonoff, who has worked with both Taylor and Lorde on many of their tracks.

Fans took to Twitter to express their dislike for the tune, calling it a ‘blatant rip off.’

But Gwen and Lorde have remained quiet on the comparisons.

Right Said Fred aren’t complaining about the sample though, appearing to enjoy their resurgence, they took to Twitter to thank Taylor for their song’s ‘marvellous reinvention.’

They were even trending on Twitter thanks to Taylor.

On Thursday evening, Taylor sent fans into meltdown when she tweeted: ‘New single #LookWhatYouMadeMeDo out now. Pre-order #reputation. Merch & ticket info at taylorswift.com.’

The release comes after the star completely wiped her social media accounts recently only to return with a number of cryptic snake posts.

It’s been three years since Taylor released the mega-selling 1989, marking the longest break in albums since she debuted her first in 2006.
