Taylor Swift Instagram Post Sparks Kamala Harris Endorsement Speculation

Social media users and fans of the pop megastar Taylor Swift are speculating whether the singer has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 U.S. election in a recent Instagram post.

Swift, who is currently on her European leg of the globally successful and record-breaking Eras Tour, posted a collection of photos honoring her shows in Warsaw, Poland, late Tuesday night. On the seventh slide, a silhouette of what looks like Harris is seen waving behind Swift onstage.

“It really feels like it should be a bigger deal that Taylor Swift left a shadow of Kamala on her Instagram post but I don’t really see anyone talking about it,” one X user wrote. Another said: “[Swift] is lowkey endorsing @KamalaHarris on @instagram. No public statement yet, besides this pic”.

However, looking at other photos from Swift’s recent tour stops, it seems the silhouette is of one of her background singers, with those shadows regularly appearing on the backdrop during her live show.

On Tuesday, Harris announced her running mate for the presidential election, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The pair appeared at a Philadelphia rally last night, where Walz took the opportunity to repeat his label of his counterpart J.D. Vance as “weird.” “I’ll just say it,” Walz posted on X. “Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are creepy and, yes, weird. We are not going back.”

The Harris campaign said it raised over $20 million after revealing Walz as her VP pick. As Harris begins to edge ahead in the national polls, an endorsement from Swift — currently at the height of her fame and with influence over millions of young voters — would be huge.

Swift has yet to endorse anyone in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, but fans are now wondering whether she will back Harris and Walz. In 2020, the star endorsed Biden. She told V Magazine: “I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election.”

The pop star is widely regarded as a liberal and has previously spoken out about being pro-choice, an advocate of gender equality, pro-LGBTQ+ rights and pro-gun control.
