Outlander star Sam Heughan has announced he's a Swiftie as he jokingly teases that the superstar might leave her NFL boyfriend for him.

In an Instagram post the Scottish actor confirmed that a group of the Outlander cast will be joining hundreds of thousands of fans in the capital for one of Taylor Swift's much anticipated concerts this weekend.

Sam, known for his role as Jamie Fraser, humorously suggested that Taylor might "forget all about" her current NFL beau Travis Kelce once she sees him.

Taylor Swift will play at Murrayfield Stadium on June 7, 8 and 9th - with hundreds of thousands of lucky fans from all over the country making their way to the capital this weekend.

Sam Heughan revealed his inner Swiftie during an on-set interview which was posted to Instagram - saying the superstar will "shake off" her current boyfriend.

He jokingly said: "We're gonna go see Taylor Swift play in Scotland and I think most of the cast is going.

"She obviously doesn't know this, but when she comes to Scotland and sees me in the audience she's going to forget all about him and will be all for a man in a ginger wig...how could she resist?

"She's going to shake him off and take me out instead...I'm really excited!"

The video concludes with a scene of Heughan mimicking Swift's trademark heart hands gesture towards the camera.

Fans flocked to the comments, one wrote: "Outlander x Taylor Swift… my worlds collided", another added, "I’d dump Travis in a heartbeat for Sam!! Taylor, girl make the right choice here for all of us!!"

The superstar is scheduled to perform for three consecutive nights at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh as part of her European Eras tour schedule. She'll then make her way to to Liverpool for another three-show stint at Anfield Stadium. Her European tour leg will extend through August, including stops in London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Milan, and other cities.
