Yahoo News Taylor Swift reignites feud with ‘two-faced’ Kanye West: ‘He earns your trust and detonates you’
Taylor Swift has said that Kanye West is “so two-faced” and that he deliberately earns the trust of others before “detonating them”.
Reigniting their long-running feud in an interview with Rolling Stone, Swift ran through a timeline of her fluctuating relationship with West, and how she had initially hoped to earn his respect before realising that he could not be trusted.
After West famously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Swift said she “started to feel like we reconnected” over dinners and conversations, adding that “I just so badly wanted that respect from him, and I hate that about myself, that I was like, ‘This guy who’s antagonising me, I just want his approval.’ But that’s where I was.”
In 2015, West had asked Swift, as a kind of peace offering, to present him with the Vanguard award at that year’s MTV VMAs. But once West claimed on stage that MTV had only wanted Swift at the event for ratings purposes, Swift said that her stance on him once again shifted.
“I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this chill ran through my body,” Swift said. “I realised he is so two-faced. That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool, get up in front of everyone and talk s**t.”
Swift then claimed that she initially thought West’s decision to reach out to her about the lyrics of his song “Famous”, in which he boasted that he thought the pair “might still have sex”, was another attempt at a peace offering. But by the time she heard the full track, in which West further boasted that he “made that bitch [Swift] famous”, Swift felt betrayed.
“When I heard the song, I was like, ‘I’m done with this. If you want to be on bad terms, let’s be on bad terms, but just be real about it.’”

Swift then claimed to Rolling Stone that West had also been involved in the exposing of Drake’s secret love child with the French model Sophie Brussaux, which became public knowledge via a diss track by the rapper Pusha T. West has denied that he had anything to do with the Pusha T song.
“He gravely affected the trajectory of Drake’s family and their lives,” Swift claimed. “It’s the same thing. Getting close to you, earning your trust, detonating you. I really don’t want to talk about it anymore because I get worked up, and I don’t want to just talk about negative s**t all day, but it’s the same thing. Go watch Drake talk about what happened.”
Swift also used the interview to talk about her politics, white supremacy, her maligned “girl squad” and her thoughts on her former record label boss Scott Borchetta.
Her new album Lover was released last month to rave reviews.
