Teacher Bans Homework So Pupils Can Spend Time With Their Families Instead

A primary school teacher in Texas has decided not to give her pupils any homework at all - so they can enjoy more quality family time.

Brandy Young sent a letter home to confirm that any work outside of school was scrapped for the year, after much thought on the issue.

The letter, that has gone viral since it was posted on Facebook, stated: “After much research this summer, I am trying something new.

“Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day. There will be no formally assigned homework this year.”

Explaining her decision, she went on: “I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success.

“Eat dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early.”

Parent Samantha Gallagher, who posted the letter on her Facebook page, was full of praise for Mrs Young, adding that she believed the policy would “benefit” pupils.
