Teaching Union Joins Louvre Museum Blockade

Protesters could be heard singing while joining a blockade of the Louvre Museum in Paris on Monday, part of ongoing action against the French government’s pension reforms.

Footage recorded by the Sud education union shows members walking towards the Louvre in central Paris.

The union tweeted shortly thereafter that they had arrived at the blockade.

The CGT Union posted on Twitter that its members were also among those blocking the museum on Monday. The museum was closed as a result.

Protests in France have escalated since the government’s decision to bypass parliament with its unpopular pension reforms, which include raising the age of retirement from 62 to 64 for most people. Credit: @sudeducation95 via Storyful
