Tears for Fears has been forced to postpone their UK and Ireland tour amid “unforseen health concerns.”

The English rockers, comprised of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, formed in Bath in 1981.

The Shout singers were due to start their tour on April 27 in Leeds and finish May 12 in Brighton.

However, the tour has since been rescheduled for early next year on “doctor’s orders.”

The announcement read: “Tears for Fears have been forced to postpone their forthcoming sold out UK & Ireland arena tour due to unforeseen health concerns and on doctor’s orders.

“The tour, due to start April 27th in Leeds, and finish May 12th in Brighton has been rescheduled for early 2019.

“Tears for Fears apologise to their fans and are extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

The group did, however, confirm they are in midst of completing their first new album in fourteen years, following their 2014 release of Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.

The group’s rescheduled London date will now be held on 6 February 2019 at the O2 Arena.

Tickets for the 2018 shows are set to remain valid for the rescheduled shows next year, with the exception of Glasgow and Birmingham where the venues have been changed for which fans will be issued new tickets.

Fans flocked to social media to send their wishes to the band, however, others were left disappointed.

One fan wrote: “Absolutely gutted for this as managed to get a meet and greet for my 30th with them as well. However completely understand health comes first. Hope all is well soon.”

Another said: “This is very sad news. I have already booked my flights to travel half way across the world for this now.”

Meanwhile one wrote: “I'm absolutely gutted, but I understand that health has to come first. Take care of yourselves and I hope you'll feel better soon. See you next February.”
