Children with peanut allergies across the country will be the first in Europe to receive life-changing treatment.

NHS England has secured a deal for Palforzia, an oral treatment, which helps to reduce the severity of symptoms including anaphylaxis, after a reaction to peanuts.

About one in 50 children suffer from peanut allergies in the UK.

Omicron appears to be milder, according to early studies published in the UK and South Africa.

Preliminary evidence suggests fewer people are needing hospital treatment than with other variants - with estimates ranging from a 30% to a 70% reduction.
