Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence has shared that a fourth season could still happen – but only on one condition.

The Apple TV+ series follows the titular character (Jason Sudeikis), an affable American coach who finds himself in a culture clash as he is hired to manage an English football team, whose owner (Hannah Waddingham) secretly hopes he fails.

After three critically and commercially successful seasons, the show ended with an emotional finale, but several stars and producers have intimated that it could return in the future, with Lawrence the latest to fuel the rumours.

“Groupthink sometimes happens, even without talking to each other,” he told Collider. “Every actor, actress, writer, producer on that show – [we didn’t get] together and decide this was the message – loved the experience.

“As fans, we'd all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we're all down with it. Not only is he the star, he's the head writer.

“He's also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children. It's a big deal. So, as a fan, if someone's like, ‘Oh, it's gonna happen again,’ I'll go nuts. As a partner, I'm down for whatever he wants to do.”

Though we might have to wait a while for a fourth season, Ellie Taylor – who played Flo ‘Sassy’ Collins on the show – recently shared that she almost never appeared altogether due to a tight schedule on her audition.

“I feel so lucky. Honestly, it was an absolute gift of a part,” she told The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X.

“And I didn't want to go to the audition as well; it was really far away – the other side of London. I was like, ‘I'm going to have to get two trains and a bus! Really begrudging, 'That's another thing I'm not going to get!

“Can you imagine if I didn't bother going because I didn't want to get the bus? So thankfully, yeah, I did go along, and it all worked out."

She added: "It was lovely. And it came at the right time, sort of during COVID, when everyone needed sort of positivity and something that wasn't very cynical. And, yeah, it was great.”

Ted Lasso is streaming in its entirety on Apple TV+.
