Ted Lasso season 3 releases first look image as Apple TV+ unveils new slate

Ted Lasso is headed back to the pitch for its final season three and Apple TV+ has released a first-look image, along with a whole host of other shows for its new slate.

UK football club comedy Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as the title character, and the first image from the new season shows him squaring off against former assistant coach turned arch-rival Nathan Shelley, played by Nick Mohammed.

Apple TV+ shared the image and captioned it: "Time to win the whole f***ing thing.

"Here’s your first look at #TedLasso Season 3, coming to Apple TV+ this Spring."

The multi-award winning series follows American football coach Lasso as he tackles the English soccer league at struggling club AFC Richmond.

Last year, Ted Lasso equalled its record-breaking 2021 Emmy nomination run by picking up a total of 20 nods for the second year in a row.

The series also won comedian and actor Brett Goldstein an Emmy for best supporting actor in a comedy series.

It isn't the only exciting announcement for Apple TV+, which unveiled a slate including some star-studded series.

Meryl Streep and Kit Harington lead the cast for Extrapolations, a series of stories about how climate change affects people's personal and work lives which will begin streaming in March.

Jennifer Garner is set to star in The Last Thing He Told Me from April, an adaptation of Laura Dave's bestselling novel about a woman searching for the truth behind her husband's disappearance.

Apple also shared a trailer for new comedy series Shrinking about a bereaved CBT therapist who takes a radical approach to treating his patients after losing his wife, starring Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams and Christa Miller which begins on 27 January.

Other titles announced include second seasons for Schmigadoon!, The Afterparty and Swagger, and new releases Hello Tomorrow!, The Big Door Prize and Dear Edward.

Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy will front a new travel series, The Reluctant Traveler, which sees him take unenthusiastic trips to locations including Finland, Lisbon, Tokyo, South Africa and the Maldives.
