Teen charged with murder after body of girl, 14, found in Wolverhampton park

A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a park in Wolverhampton on Thursday.

Viktorija Sokolova's body was discovered by a member of the public on Thursday morning, with a post-mortem examination concluding she died from blunt force trauma to the head.

A 17-year-old teenager who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further investigation.

Paying tribute to Viktorija, who was born in Lithuania, her family described her as a "little angel".

They said: "Viktorija was like a little angel, she made our lives so colourful and full of meaning.

"We can't believe she has left us at such a young age. We will never forget you our sweetheart.

"You will be living in our hearts, soul and mind forever. Goodbye our little angel."

West Park, where Viktorija was found, remains closed while a comprehensive forensic examination continues.

The charged teenager is due to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on Monday.
