Teen stabbed in chest in Birmingham city centre and another attacked in 'disorder'
A teenage boy was stabbed in the chest in Birmingham city centre this evening, January 24, following disorder in the city centre. The 18-year-old male was rushed to hospital following the incident on Carrs Lane, just off Moor Street in the city centre.
A 17-year-old boy was also assaulted in the incident but did not require hospital treatment, West Midlands Police said. The stabbing took place just after 5.30pm on Carrs Lane, which remains closed.
The force confirmed that a scene remains in place on Carrs Lane near Primark as enquiries continue. Buses are being diverted from the area and motorists have reported traffic disruption.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "An 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital with a stab injury following disorder in Birmingham city centre. We were called to Moor Street at its junction with Carrs Lane shortly after 5.30pm today (Fri).

"He received a stab injury to his chest which we don’t believe is life threatening and was taken to hospital. A 17-year-old boy was assaulted in the incident but didn’t require hospital treatment.

According to live traffic system INRIX, the buses being diverted are services 4, 4A, 45, 47, 97 and 97A. The live traffic system confirmed that Carrs Lane remained closed at 19:40.
The side street is a one-way street off the main shopping area, but it is opposite Birmingham Moor Street which is a main bus interchange. INRIX reports: "Carrs Lane One Way Street closed, slow traffic due to police incident from Moor Street Queensway to High Street."
