Teen star of BBC's Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams dies in horror incident
An 18-year-old boy who starred in Freddie Flintoff's BBC show has died in a horror car crash, his former school has confirmed.
Penwortham Priory Academy has confirmed that Umar Mahmood, an ex-student, tragically died in a car accident in Preston. Umar was in the devastating crash on Chain Caul Way on Tuesday, September 10, after the Audi A3 Sport he was in veered off the road and struck trees. He suffered severe injuries and was critically ill in hospital before he died.
The academy, where Umar completed his studies two years beforehand, also mourned the loss of another student, 16 year old Adam Bodi, in the same incident.
Paying tribute, the school remembered Umar as a "bright" and "studious" individual. They highlighted his appearance in the BBC One documentary 'Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams' and his love for cricket and geography, reports Lancs Live.
A heartfelt statement by the school's Principal, Mr Eastham, said: "We are again saddened as a school to hear the news that Umar, who was in the same accident as Adam, and who left Priory two years ago, has also passed away..
"Umar was a bright, studious and well-loved member of our school community. He had a passion for Geography as well as his cricket, playing for Priory's school team and appearing in the BBC One documentary 'Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams'."
"It was a privilege for us here at Priory to know Umar. He was a young man who was always considerate to those around him and who showed ambition and kindness in all that he did."

The school expressed its sorrow, stating: "It is of course with great sadness that we hear this news. We give our sincere condolences to all of Umar's family and friends on behalf of the school, at what will be a very difficult time. They too, are in our thoughts and prayers today."
The Preston Muslim Burial Society has announced that Umar and Adam will be laid to rest at Preston cemetery today (Friday, September 13) at 3pm. A spokesman for the society said: "Attendees are highly encouraged to walk or carshare to the cemetery and follow the instructions provided by the volunteers. May Allah bless family with sabr jameel during this difficult time."
