Teenage Driver 'Distracted by Vape Pen' Crashes Into Arizona House

A driver authorities said was “distracted by a vape pen” crashed into a home in San Tan Valley, Arizona, just after midnight on December 7.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office released video showing the car being reversed out of the house.

The driver showed no signs of impairment, but “admitted to looking down and smoking a vape pen before the collision,” the sheriff’s office said.

The homeowner and two children were home at the time of the crash, but were uninjured. The driver and the passenger, aged 18 and 19 respectively, also escaped injury, the sheriff’s office said. The driver was charged for speeding, reckless driving, criminal damage and endangerment.

“We wish reminders like these weren’t needed, but please watch your speed through neighborhoods, and keep your eyes on the road,” Sheriff Mark Lamb said. Credit: Pinal County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
