Teenage Liverpool striker 'loving it' at Stoke City as he delivers verdict on first fortnight
Lewis Koumas hailed the unbelievable atmosphere when he scored his first Stoke City goal and says he’s ‘raring to go’ at the start of his season with the club.
Liverpool have sent one of their hottest prospects to the bet365 Stadium for the season and the 18-year-old found the net on his first league start against West Bromwich Albion, where his dad Jason remains a hero. He hit the post twice too in what turned out to be a 2-1 defeat.
“I thought in general we played quite well but obviously just fell short again and I’m gutted about it,” he said in an interview for the club. “A couple of my shots that hit the post possibly should have gone in but I’m happy to grab my first goal – I’m just gutted about the result.

“It was unbelievable (to score), a great feeling to get my first Championship goal. It was an unbelievable atmosphere when that happened and filled me with confidence to go on and try to score again.
“I just kept trying to get into the right positions, kept trying to get chances.”
Koumas has a reputation of being able to play across the front line and he was used down the middle against West Brom.
“I enjoyed it,” he said. “Anywhere I can score a goal I’m happy to play.
“I’m loving it here. I’ve settled in very well and just raring to go, playing games and trying to help the team.
“I think the coaching staff are all class, every one of them helping me as much as they can and filling me with confidence and I’m enjoying working with them.”
