Teenager arrested following 'hit and run' with man in serious condition in hospital

A teenager has been arrested following an alleged hit and run in Renfrewshire.

Emergency services raced to Thorn Brae in Johnstone after the alarm was raised at around 12.30am on Saturday.

Ambulance crews attended and a 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital for treatment. Medics described his condition as 'serious' and officers previous appealed for information.

Cops have now confirmed that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with a man having been hit by a car on Thorn Brae, Johnstone on Saturday, June 8.

"He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 10 June, 2024.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0140 of June 8, 2024."
