Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy after a student was reportedly stabbed during a fire drill in a Milton Keynes school.

Stantonbury International School was placed on lockdown after the incident at around 10.55am on Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the school, where police said a boy had suffered a small puncture wound to his back.

The boy's injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening, Thames Valley Police said.

A 15-year-old is in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

The school told the Milton Keynes Citizen an assault had taken place during a fire drill.

Parents gathered outside the school as pupils contacted their families claiming a teenager had been stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors, according to reports.

One parent told the Milton Keynes Citizen: "My child told me armed police are there and teachers are saying the pupils can't go anywhere. Police have put school on lockdown."

Another said they had spoken to the school and they had reassured that "all is in hand and there's no need to panic".

Superintendent Marc Tarbit, LPA Commander for Milton Keynes, said: “Officers are investigating this incident in which a boy has been injured.

“We have made an arrest and we are carrying out further enquiries.

“Officers are on scene and we are working closely with the school to offer support to them and pupils and parents at the school.”

“Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence whilst our enquiries continue.”
