Teenager fighting for life after being hit by car in Plymouth city centre

A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being hit by a car in Plymouth city centre. Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Cobourg Street at around 11.15am yesterday (Monday, June 10).

The woman, 19 and from Launceston, was reportedly hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing near to the James Street junction. She was rushed to Derriford Hospital where she is being treated for injuries which are considered to be life-threatening.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s and from Plymouth, was uninjured in the crash. Police are now appealing to the public for information.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Plymouth city centre."
