A teenager who slammed his door during an argument with his mum has been hauled in front of court after she called the police.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, used such a degree of force when closing the door that the knob fell off following an argument between the pair over unpaid rent.
A youth hearing was told that the woman then called in the police rather than just giving the boy a stern telling off.
Nick Barr, prosecuting, said the defendant had become angry and slammed the door twice, with the handle coming off the second time he slammed it.
Emma Thacker, defending, said her client had a turbulent relationship with his mother, who is an alcoholic.

The boy made full admissions when he was interviewed by police and pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Swindon Youth Court on Monday.
Sentencing him to a three-month conditional discharge, chairman of the bench Linda Raine said: “We hope that this is the last of your offending and now life is looking good for you and you can move on.”
