“Tell Me Lies” Star Jackson White Announces Death of Father Jack White: 'He's Not in Pain Anymore'

Jackson's mother, Katey Sagal, commented on the post, writing, "I will always be grateful to your dad for you! Thank you Jack❤️🙏"

Jackson White is mourning the loss of his father, Jack White.

On Tuesday, July 16, the Tell Me Lies star, 28, announced his father's death on Instagram. Alongside a series of baby photos and videos of the drummer performing, the actor reflected on the impact Jack had left on his life.

"This guy taught me everything," Jackson began in the caption the post. "We had ups and downs, as a man has with their father. But in the end it was just love."

"He was an open book, a fighter, genuinely the funniest person my sister and I knew, and single handedly invented the loudest most powerful back beat of any drummer I’ve ever seen," Jackson continued.

Though the actor didn't share what ailed his father in his final days, he said the drummer wasn't "in pain anymore" and he and his sister will continue to remember him "6 foot 4 with a denim shirt and a Starbucks muffin, driving us around, teaching us every important song ever written."

"I’m wearing his shoes every day. Not a metaphor he had really cool shoes," Jackson joked. "Big Jack White. 1954-2024. I love you dad forever."

Jack was married to Katey Sagal from 1993 to 2000. They went on to welcome two children, Jackson and Sarah Grace White, before filing for divorce.

In the comments, Sagal, 70, also reflected on the death of her late ex-husband and thanked him for help bringing her children into the world.

"Beautiful Jackson and Beautiful Sarah I will always be grateful to your dad for you!" she commented. "Thank you Jack❤️🙏. Finally free."

Though he originally began his career in music like his father, Jackson followed in his mother's footsteps and pursued acting.

In Tell Me Lies, he starred opposite of Sagal, who played his on-screen mother in the show's first season. In 2022, Jackson described the experience to The Seattle Times as “insane,” but noted it was “perfect casting.”

“I’m friends with my mother, and we had to be extremely passive aggressive and tense, but it was so fun and exciting to build that relationship and talk to each other how we’ve never really talked to each other," he recalled.
