Temperature Drops to -47 C in Russian City of Yakutsk

The temperature in the Russian city of Yakutsk reached -47 C (-52.6 F) on Saturday, December 28, local media reported.

According to local reporting, the temperature reading was made at the city’s airport. Because of the cold, classes were cancelled for schoolchildren in grades 1 to 5, though not for middle or high school students.
