A young woman was left baffled when she ordered a croissant-shaped lamp online, only to receive an actual pastry in her delivery.

The TikToker recounted finding "hundreds of ants" swarming under the parcel left by her front door after returning from a long day at work. The hot weather had lured the insects to the scent of the pastry, which they tried to access by chewing into the box.

Her confusion turned to surprise upon opening the package and discovering a real croissant instead of the lamp shaped like the French delicacy she had expected. The item was purchased from Temu, the well-known e-commerce platform where users can purchase a variety of goods. The woman had intended to buy a quirky gift for a friend but was taken aback when she ended up with the edible version.

"I came home from work after a hot day and there were like, hundreds of ants underneath it. I was like, 'Why the f*** would ants want a fake croissant? ' The ants were going in the hole (in the package). So I just poked a bigger hole," she explained in her viral TikTok video, reports the Mirror.

She even tasted the unexpected delivery to confirm its authenticity, sharing her experience in a TikTok that has since garnered over 1.5 million views. The video's caption questions: "Pls explain, Temu."

The Mirror reached out to Temu for a statement on the recent croissant fiasco. The company has faced criticism not only for the "croissant" lamp but also for hazardous products.

In February, a consumer alert was raised about "unsafe" electric heaters advertised on social media platforms such as TikTok and Temu. Consumer watchdog Which? examined various heaters, some priced as low as £7.20, and found that six out of eight posed risks of explosion, electric shocks, or could potentially ignite house fires.
