Ten in hospital after Edinburgh flat fire as Scots cops probe blaze
Ten people were rushed to hospital after flames ripped through a flat. The drama unfolded in Edinburgh yesterday evening, with emergency services called to the scene.
Officers from Police Scotland, paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service descended on Niddrie Mill Crescent.
And the authorities are now investigating the blaze, which is believed to have been in a ground floor flat, in a bid to establish exactly what caused the fire, which was reported at around 6.40pm on Wednesday.

More than a dozen emergency vehicles, including fire engines, ambulances and police cars were in attendance, while pictures from the scene showed the area was packed with firefighters.
Another image showed a ladder up to a balcony on a flat higher up the block, while the windows of the property in question had been opened widely.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 6.37pm on Wednesday November 6 to attend an incident on Niddrie Mill Crescent, Edinburgh.
"We dispatched multiple resources to the scene, including four ambulances and three special operations response teams (SORT). We transported 10 patients to Royal Infirmary Edinburgh."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted 6.35pm on Wednesday, 6 November, to reports of a dwelling fire at Niddrie Mill Crescent, Edinburgh.
"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a ground floor flat within a three-storey block of flats.
"A number of casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and received treatment at the scene. Crews left at 10.17pm after ensuring the area was made safe."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.40pm on Wednesday, 6 November, 2024 we were called to a fire at a block of flats in Niddrie Mill Crescent in Edinburgh.
Police officers were still at the property today as the investigation continues. The force added: "Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
