Here are ten apps that you should get downloading straight away to make sure you get the most out of your iPad.
You might have heard of Candy Crush over the last few months given its popularity. It is free to play, but you'll need to pay for extra moves or lives if you don't want to wait.
There are over 400 levels and to call it addictive would be an understatement, it will have you playing day and night.
The YouTube app lets you watch your favourite videos and playlists and you can subscribe to the channels you like the best for easier access.
You can also share videos through Google+, email, Facebook and Twitter, plus if you sign in, you'll be able to see your Watch Later list.
Skype for iPad
Skype for iPad lets you keep in contact with friends and family using instant messages, voice or video calls and it's all free.
You will also be able to send photos, videos and add emoticons to your messages, plus you can leave a video message if the person you want to talk to is busy or offline.
The Kindle app will let you turn your iPad into your next book, allowing you to read all your Kindle books, newspapers, magazines and PDFs.
The app will give you access to over 1.5 million books and the Whispersync feature makes sure you can pick up where you left off on another device.
If you don't have a Facebook account, it is worth getting one for a quick way of keeping up with your friends and family.
The app lets you see what your friends are doing, share updates, photos and videos, receive notifications of comments, as well as chat with your friends.
The Netflix app is a must-have for watching TV episodes and films on your tablet, although bear in mind you will need a membership.
You'll get access to thousands of shows and movies with the monthly subscription and it is unlimited so you can watch as many as you want, as often as you want.
Real Racing 3
Real Racing has won numerous awards and offers licensed tracks, a 22-car grid and over 70 detailed cars from manufacturers such as Porsche, Lamborghini and Bugatti.
There are social leaderboards, as well as time trials, ghost challenges and Time Shifted Multiplayer so you can race anyone, anytime and anywhere.
The BBC iPlayer app will let you catch up on BBC TV and Radio when you are on the move so you don't miss your favourite show.
You can download programmes to watch on the go, catch up on the past seven days and watch or listen live over Wi-Fi and 3G.
Similar to BBC iPlayer, the ITV Player app lets you catch up on ITV content on your tablet, but you get up to 30 days instead of seven.
Usage is unlimited and you will be able to browse recommended programmes, as well as view live streams over 3G and Wi-Fi.
The 4oD app is another catch up service, in this case for Channel 4, E4 and More 4 programmes.
You can catch up on your favourite programmes up to 30 days after they are aired, and you will be able to download programmes over Wi-Fi to watch offline or abroad.
