Tenet's John David Washington shares response to film's release date delays

From Digital Spy

Tenet star John David Washington has revealed what it's been like for him to watch the Christopher Nolan movie be delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Way back when, the eagerly anticipated thriller was originally set to come out on July 17, but was pushed back to July 31, then August 12, then August 26 when cinemas around the world started temporarily closing their doors.

More recently, Warner Bros has confirmed that the film's release has been postponed indefinitely – an understandable decision, but a blow nonetheless for Nolan fans, as well as the cast and crew who worked so hard on it.

"I mean, I'm human," Washington told Mr Porter in a new interview. "I put everything into this film. You think it's going to happen and they keep pushing it back. That can be disheartening.

"But it's like your child," the BlacKkKlansman actor continued. "You want to send it to the best school, even if you have to wait a semester."

Despite multiple trailers having been released, Tenet's plot remains shrouded in mystery. We do know that Washington plays an operative known as The Protagonist, which he describes as "a man of great integrity, a man I admire, a man who is ready to give his life for the people he is fighting with."

Elsewhere, Robert Pattinson appears as The Protagonist's colleague Neil, as it takes audiences on a mind-bending exploration of "time inversion" and international espionage.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Elizabeth Debicki, Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harry Potter's Clémence Poésy and Sir Kenneth Branagh round out the cast.
