Tennessee Police Officer Dragged, Run Over by Fleeing Suspect During Traffic Stop

Police in Franklin, Tennessee, said two officers were injured after a suspect fled a traffic stop on April 24.

The officers, Dustyn Stevens and Matt Lamarr, were dragged by the fleeing suspect’s car as he drove down the I-65, running over Stevens, police said in a statement. Stevens was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released, while Lamar’s injuries did not require medical treatment, according to police.

This dashcam footage was released by police and shows the officers being dragged along the verge of the highway.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Roy Nicholson, of Columbia, was asked to exit the vehicle after an officer saw “a gun in the vehicle and [smelled] marijuana,” the statement said. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a first responder. Credit: Franklin Police Department via Storyful
