Tens of Thousands Remain Without Power in Texas Due to Hurricane Nicholas

Workers labored to restore power to tens of thousands of Texas residents on September 15, a day after Hurricane Nicholas made landfall along the state’s Gulf Coast.

Video posted to Facebook shows Austin Energy power trucks leaving Austin, headed for Houston, on Wednesday morning. The company said that 23 line workers would travel south to join power restoration efforts.

Nicholas made landfall early on September 14 as a Category 1 hurricane, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. As of Wednesday afternoon, over 62,000 customers were still without power, CenterPoint Energy outage maps indicated. Credit: Austin Energy via Storyful
