Tense Scenes in East Jerusalem as Israeli Police and Palestinian Worshippers Clash

Approximately 100 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police in Jerusalem on the night of May 8 into the early hours of May 9, Haaretz reported.

Clashes broke out in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and near Damascus Gate, with Israeli police using tear gas, stun grenades and sponge-tipped bullets, Haaretz reported.

This footage was filmed by the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, and shows crowds gathered in the east Jerusalem. The flash of a stun grenade is seen in the footage.

On Friday, injuries were reported after police descended on protesters who remained near the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex after services. Demonstrators have focused on the situation faced by families in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in particular, where Jewish settlers have laid claim to land.
