Terrifying footage as stranded walker’s tent battered by storm as rescue mission launched
This terrifying footage shows a stranded walker’s tent being battered by a storm as mountain rescue launch a desperate mission to save her.
It comes after lone-walker and her dog became stranded in the Yorkshire Dales overnight. The woman and her dog had been out on a walk on Sunday afternoon along the Pennine Way on Sunday, October, 27.
However, things took a turn for the worst when they ran out of daylight before making it back down. Equipped for all eventualities the experienced walker pitched a tent for the night - but heavy rain and wind destroyed the tent leaving the woman and her dog exposed to the harsh weather conditions.

The unnamed woman and her canine companion were stranded approximately 2,000 ft above ground level. Thankfully, she was able to get hold of the emergency services who contacted Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team to assist at around 4.30 am on Monday, October 28.
The team managed to locate the lone-walker and her dog, warm them up and walk them to safety. Dramatic footage captured the moment of the rescue, showing the state of the tent blowing in the wind as the woman and her loyal dog attempted to shield from the harsh conditions.
A further post showed a series of pictures from the rescue including the woman wearing a life jacket and the dog shielding from the cold in a backpack, there is also pictures of the team walking them back to safety.
Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team shared the incident on their official Facebook site. The post reads: "Called by the Police at 04.30 to rescue a lone Pennine Way walker. The walker and their dog had run out of daylight yesterday evening and correctly pitched their tent for the night.
"Then the rain and gales came through and destroyed the tent. In the valley it's windless, but a very different picture at 2000 ft. Located by the team, warmed up and walked off to safety."
People were quick to applaud the team for their efforts, commenting on the post. Vivian Wright penned: "So pleased they are safe, thank you for the wonderful work you do Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team", while Casper Gibbons wrote: "Good job Team Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team" and Jenny Hird agreed: "Fantastic work!"
