Terrifying moment Midlothian car 'explodes' on quiet residential street at night


The terrifying moment a car on a quiet Midlothian street 'explodes' after bursting into flames has been caught on camera.

Neighbours on Dalkeith's Blackclot Road watched on in horror on Tuesday night as a motor on the street was engulfed in flames before several loud bangs were heard.

It is understood the incident took place at around 10pm on a residential street with the flames coming close to damaging other vehicles, as hero firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

A video captured by one resident on the street captured the moment an audible bang is heard shortly before fire crews arrive as neighbours can be heard shouting in fear.

The witness said: "We heard a loud bang then went out to see what was going on and started to record then there was another explosion before the fire brigade arrived.

"I don't recall anything like this happening over the last few years."

Police Scotland were approached for comment.
