A territorial sea lion was filmed confronting beachgoers at La Jolla Cove, San Diego, on Sunday, June 26.
Video recorded by Elvira Bakiyeva shows the large animal jet out of the water and quickly approach bystanders. Bakiyeva told Storyful the animal was moving with a “purpose” toward beachgoers.
“Swimmers and I were looking at him and waiting to see what he was going to do next,” she said.
“The closest [person] to him was an older woman and she was concerned, so she nervously got up from her beach chair.”
The animal then shifted its attention to an unsuspecting man, lunging at him and forcing him away from his possessions. Credit: Elvira Bakiyeva via Storyful
[SHORE WAVES CRASHING]
- Oh, my god.
- Holy crap.
- You took his spot.
- A little heads up.
I'm touching bottom right now.
- My goggles?
- He's like, he's posing for us.
- Pretty [INAUDIBLE].
- He doesn't want me to get my goggles. Come on, buddy. Come on.
- Come on. Come on this way. Come on.
